Nicaragua… U took a piece of my heart…

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

A spanish song “Creo En Ti” resounded in my head as I awoke to the cold & silence of my bedroom in Redding CA.  The silence used to be a delight, but after having woken up to the chirpping of birds, crows of a rooster  and beautiful voices of “Hola, buenas dias!”, in the last 2 weeks in Nicaragua, this silence was not appreciated.  I MISS Nicaragua!!!

The time spent in Nica was amazing.  I have never felt so many emotions in a 2-week period, as I have just had.  There were waves of emotions from the highs of delight in understanding a new culture, to the joys of worshipping in the Lord’s Presence Nica-style, to the affections of hearts connecting beyond language barriers, down to the lows of sadness in seeing precious hearts encompassed in poverty.  Argghhh! I’ve always prayed, “Lord, break my heart for what break yours”… and He truly has.  My heart is broken – so broken for a people so beautiful & hungry for more of God.

Yes, I saw more miraculous healings in these 2 weeks than I ever have in my lifetime so far.  At the Name of Jesus: tumors dissolved, cancer gone, blind eyes & deaf ears opened, knees & backs healed, arms & wrists could move again without pain and evil spirits flee!

Yet the healings that impacted me the most were seeing hearts touched & healed by the Love of Jesus.  His Love never fails! It was profound – tears were shared as we hugged, hugged and hugged even more.  These moments were so precious as Holy Spirit brought comfort, joy & peace into these Nica-hearts.  His Love surrounded them & me.  I learnt so much from just not doing much, but just letting Holy Spirit do His work.

Our team visited trash dumps and showered the kids there with Jesus’ love.  We face painted, blew animal balloons, painted their nails, sang songs, and just giggled & laughed like there was no tomorrow.  There a few little girls (no more than 7 years old) who would jump up on me literally and then wrapped their little arms around me and would not let go.  Those moments were precious.  My heart was tugged and it took everything in me not to breakdown, as I wondered how many of them never have been hugged before, or had someone told them how beautiful they were.  Even though all I could say was “Te Amo” (I love you), every time I said it, their eyes would brighten up and little giggles were heard.

We also preached, ministered & taught in the local Churches & a ministry school.  Our team spent most of the time in Dario, a little town about an hour away from the capital city of Managua.  The local Church “Ministerio Rey de Reyes” was where we ministered at the most.  The humility and servant-hearts of Pastors Harry & Jairo were truly admirable.  They taught me about a lot about honour, just by the way they walked it out everyday.

The Nicaraguans were so hungry for God! I saw the scripture in Matthew 5:6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled”, came alive! Holy Spirit filled every one of these hungry & thirsty hearts in a way I’ve never seen before.  The encounters manifested like a picture of the Day of Pentecost, with tongues of fire resting upon every single person – from the youngest to the eldest.  The prophetic words of Joel 2:28-32 came alive!!! Those encounters “ruined” me for life.  I don’t want to live life any other way – and I learnt this significant truth from these beautiful Nicas.

We could only have done what we have done with the help from our translators, Kevin, Eduardo & Mario.  These people have so much in them, it was an honour to partner with them.  Although we only had a day with Kevin & Eduardo, we quickly became friends, and it was so good to see them activated & now continuing the momentum of bringing Jesus’ Love & Power everywhere they go.

Mario was with us for a whole week and we became fast friends.  Mario & I would be the last 2 to go to sleep every night, and I relished every conversation we had.  It’s amazing to hear & see what God is doing in his life, and I’m so excited for what’s ahead, as God has more for him, more than he can ever dream or imagine! On the last night in Dario, it was such an honour having Mario translate, as I preached.  My words could only go so far in English.  Mario not only interpreted my words, but he carried the very heart of those words in Spanish.  At the end, almost the whole church responded to Holy Spirit’s touch & received His Love & Power.  Mario, it was a true honour to partner with you.  You preached every word – you are awesome! I count it a privilege to know you – for realz!!

As for our team (Team Dario), I am lost for words as to how much each & everyone of them impacted me in a short period of 2 weeks.  Our leaders Paul & Jenny were amazing leaders.  They were so empowering and would do anything to let the rest of the team shine, instead of themselves.  In doing so, they shone even more brightly, as we could all see the light of Jesus in them.  They are true leaders.  Paul & Jenny, thank you for everything you have done.  This trip would not have been so incredibly wonderful had you not been our leaders.  I truly treasure your friendships.

Our team bonded like family.  We shared some profoundly reflective heart-felt conversations.  I learnt so much on this trip from each one of you.  You deserve a real applause for being so awesome – you guys are legit!! The way you carried the Power of Jesus with such incredible Love is extremely humbling.  I would wanna go on every mission trip with you!

God has truly broken my heart for Nicaragua, and I will be back “fo sho”!!! <3

“Recibe toda la Gloria, recibe toda la Honra, precioso Hijo de Dios!”

Happy Heart

It’s been a month since my dear friend & sista, Praise Goh, went home into the arms of Jesus.  I awoke this morning with a vision of her beautiful face, smiling and then she whispered in my ear, “How is your heart today?”  And I smiled. :) Thank you Praise for always wanting to know not just what am I doing, but how am I doing – the real condition of my heart.

My heart is healing & I’m happy.  I’m happy because the sun shone with a smile today.  I’m happy because my cat is feeling better.  I’m happy because I can smell the aroma of coffee.  I’m happy because I’m blessed with the Peace of Jesus – this peace that surpasses all understanding & guards my heart.  I’m happy because I am Loved by Jesus – His Love never fails.  I’m happy because I know you are dancing in Heaven, amongst that GREAT cloud of witnesses – cheering me on, as I run my race.  And because Jesus is the author & perfector of my FAITH – I’m happy because I have the confidence in what I hope for & the assurance of what I do not see.

Thank you Praise.  I’m thankful for the reminder to guard my heart, for it is the wellspring of life.  Thank you Praise.  I’m thankful that you whispered in my ear this morning.

And Thank You Jesus – for there is NONE LIKE YOU – You are the Lover & Keeper of my Soul.  My heart is happy.

Love xoxo

pieces from my heart

Here’s a piece my friend commissioned me to do.  In it it holds a prayer, that I pray that he never gives up, always keeps dreaming.  Title: Tomorrow comes with today’s dreams.  Acrylic on canvas.

Tomorrow comes with today's dreams

Here’s another one for my friend’s graduation.  I pray that it’ll be a reminder to her, to never stop living life to its fullest. Title: Love, Live, Give Life -  John 10:10.  Acrylic on canvas.

Here’s another one done for another friend’s graduation.  I pray that he’ll always be reminded that strength comes from waiting upon the Lord.  Title: Wait upon the Lord – Isaiah 40:39.  Acrylic on canvas.

Blessed…

Been awhile since I last blogged… lotsa stuff happened in-between… am now just sitting at home reflecting on all that’s happened… and am feeling very blessed.

I went to Bali in early Feb.  My first visit to Bali!!! It was amazing… i loved the people, the culture, their way of life… totally loved the surf!! was surfing all day, every day for 5 days…wish i had more days!  got to hang out/ quality time with my friends… but also learnt alot about myself… had time to just wind-down, be away from the busyness of life, and just chill and do nothing but surf… LIFE!! I love the way the waves curl, that power turns into white wash, but yet still has so much energy, so much strength. I love sitting out on the horizon, meeting other surfers (love you friendly surfers, dislike the snobby ones), watching the calm in the horizon.  I love sitting on the sand, listening to the sound of the waves ‘meeting’ the sand on the shore.  I love squinting up into the sky, watching the form of the clouds, watching them move with the wind.  I am so blessed.  God created all these! Everything He created… just because He loves me… am so blessed.

Spent 2 weeks in Singapore.  Love my family… celebrated my parent’s 30th Anniversary… I thank God for my awesome Mum & Pa…for never giving up on me, their unconditional love.  I thank God for my bros… for always standing by me, praying for me, loving me.  We’ve been through sooooo much, but I thank God for His love…kept all of us going strong.. Love my family soooo much. As they say, a family that prays together stays together – so true!!! No weapons formed against us shall prosper, and we will refute every tongue that accuses us.  This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is the vindication from the Lord (Isaiah 54:17)… I am so blessed.

Met up with alot of my old school friends, had alot of reunion dinners, caught up with my beautiful ex-colleagues, did alot of shoe shopping, ate and ate and ate…all my fav food: Sup Tulang (bone marrow in gravy), BBQ stingray, Roasted Chicken Rice, Fish Head Curry, Cockles, and more!!! yummy! I thank God for life-long friends!! Doesn’t matter where we are in the world, what season of life we are in, we’re life-long friends…. I am so blessed.

Came back to Melbourne, settled back into work.  I work with an awesome group of people. Even though things are tougher, I love seeing people uniting for the same cause.  I love the challenges that it brings.  It’s all about people.  The right people… makes all the difference… I am so blessed.

Went for a swim with wild dolphins & fur seals! Took the Moonraker Cruise, snorkelled and swam with seal pups and older fatter ones too.  Love the way they circled around and under me.  It was amazing to see them in the water.  There were a few times when a pup came really close, and looked straight into my eyes.  Quite amazing.  Then we were so blessed to have a large pod of about 15 Common Dolphins, i spotted a juvenile one amongst them.  But they were swimming only a metre away from me.  Training dolphins and being in the water with them every day (which i did for 6 years), and watching wild ones in their natural environment is quite different all together.  These animals, so full of power yet so full of grace… never ceases to amaze me.  Swimming with wild dolphins… the exhilaration, the joy it brings to my heart, undescribable… all created by the One who loves & created me… I am so blessed.

I love my church, my pastors and leaders! Am so blessed to have such a ‘family’ that loves, encourages, and believes in me.  Life Groups, Communications team, Conference team… just some of the teams I’m with @ Church… alot of time goes into these… but i love it…it grows me, stretches my faith, equips me… its such an honour and privilege to be able to work with incredibly great minds on these teams… such a joy… all for the Glory of God.  I pray that our church will stay strong and united, that we’ll continue to lead the change & impact people for eternity, that we’ll never give up on people, love on them unconditionally, and may the light of Jesus shine through, so that every knee will bow and tongue confess that He is Christ the Lord! I am so blessed.

Just got home from a meeting at church.  My heart delighted with joy as i saw the number of people who showed up tonight, gave up their time to be there… for a volunteers summit for Activate Conference.  So proud of everyone.  Yes, the reason for the hours and hours of planning and organising for the Rallies & Conference is so worth it.  The reason simply to: Activate the Body of Christ to lead the change in the world.  There you go, made every hour, and every minute worth it.  That’s the heart behind it all.  Well, 2 more weeks to Activate Conference!!!! It’s gonna be awesome!!! Can’t wait!!! I love my church, my pastors and leaders…am so proud of them.  I am so blessed.

May you be blessed too.

Great Company

Gotta hung out with James & Amy M. last night. Totally cool couple! I love it that we’re from totally different cultures, totally different life experiences, totally different personalities, yet the one thing that bonded us together was the love of God. It was really cool to just hear their journey of life, and hear how God has led their every path, every step.

God is so Amazing. He is so Faithful. His love never fails. Indeed the steps of a good man are ordained by the Lord!!!

What a great night of fellowship! OHhhh… one more thing too…. I Lurve Madiba!!! Madiba is their gorgeous Dalmation puppy! He is soooooo adorable! And very very clever too!

I lurve Madiba & He lurves me too!

He’s still a puppy altho’ he’s not that little anymore! I had lotsa fun with Madiba! As I played and watched him last night, I realised how much I missed my previous job working with Marine Mammals. Yea was a Marine Mammal Trainer for 6 years, trained dolphins, otters and dugong! Miss it lots!  But hey, my training skills are certainly not wasted nor lost!

Trained Madiba to ‘play dead’ with a command of “BANG” in less than 10 mins! (Nah, he just made me look good, he’s so smart!) Also managed to correct his bad behaviour of jumping on strangers, and reinforced his behaviour of staying in his bed!!!

Hmmm… maybe I should go back into animal behavioural training again! Anyone wanna hire an animal trainer for a day? :p
